You can take a walk in the silent, serene majesty of some of the oldest and tallest redwood groves in North America and within an hour be listening to 1/2 ton male seals quarreling over a place on the ocean's waterfront. Silicon Valley is just over the hill, less than 45 minutes away and boasts San Jose's International yet thankfully still convenient Airport. San Francisco, that mecca of class and controversy, is 70 miles to the North. Monterey, with its famed Bay and remarkable underwater Grand Canyon, is 50 miles to the South.

The county offers a rich mixture of academia, entrepreneurship, agriculture, environmentalism, music, theatre, fine arts, craftmanship, community events and just enough of a sprinkling of local goofiness to keep you smiling.
